About the artist

Davide De Luca was born in Liège, Belgium, on January 22, 1969. At the age of one, he moved with his family to Rome. Since he was a child, he developed a passion for painting, influenced by an uncle who was a collector, visiting museums and art galleries in Rome in the 70s and 80s. His works are characterized by the use of oils and acrylics, sometimes mixed with sands, to create informal and imaginative atmospheres. De Luca sketches vast chromatic fields and shades that give life to ethereal worlds, inviting the viewer to an emotional freedom that evokes dreams and pareidolia. His works are available on online platforms such as Saatchi Art and Singulart. Artistically, he has gone through the real apprenticeship, finding his own style and exhibiting first in small galleries and then in important spaces with successful solo exhibitions. In 1999 he arrived at the historic Roman gallery "Il Labirinto" in Trastevere, also home to the cultural magazine "Il Bimestre" founded by the poet Leonardo Sinisgalli, where, encouraged by the painter Tonino Caputo and the merchant Franco Valente, he held a personal exhibition that saw over 50 works exhibited, obtaining wide acclaim from both the public and critics. "At first glance his paintings appear to us as astral explosions in worlds in the making, sometimes solid, sometimes gaseous forms, we almost seem to glimpse landscapes that slowly form and then break down again in the subsequent canvases...". A series of reviews and collective exhibitions will follow. His works are exhibited together with those of: Caputo, Vespignani, Corpora, Turcato, Scanavino, Guttuso, Schifano, Montanarini, Monachesi, Dorazio, Licata, Perilli and many others. Since 2008, several works have been commissioned by a well-known Banking Institute and today they are permanently exhibited to the public in some locations in Rome and Mestre. As for his fame, De Luca is recognized mainly online and among contemporary art enthusiasts. Although he is not yet a prominent figure in the international art scene, his presence on dedicated platforms and participation in competitions indicate a growing appreciation of his work.
