Description of the Artwork “Running Burger. Fast food”

This captivating painting merges symbolism with the fast-paced world of modern life, using the motif of a running burger to explore themes of desire, consumption, and the fleeting nature of time. The artist masterfully captures motion and urgency, inviting viewers to reflect on society’s relationship with fast food and the absurdities of contemporary culture. About the artist
Serhiy Roy

Serhiy Roy, Ukraine

Sergei Roy's art moves in a distinctly surreal and narrative world, where each scene seems to belong to a story suspended somewhere between sleep, theater and allegory. His works do not simply describe a place or an event: they construct small symbolic worlds inhabited by figures who act as actors in an imaginary scene. One of the most obvious elements is the dreamy dimension. Objects and characters soar, turn upside down, move in spaces that contradict the logic of gravity and perspective. Horses crossing impossible arches, figures walking in inverted landscapes, night cities reminiscent of theatrical scenery: all this hints at a reality transformed by memory and imagination. From a pictorial point of view, Roy uses a very controlled figurative language, often with clear and atmospheric colors. Deep blue sky, suspended architecture and soft, light surfaces create a feeling of endless space. This contrast between figurative precision and surrealist logic reinforces the poetic effect of images. Many works also hint at reflections on time and the absurdity of existence. Running figures, lonely figures, skeletons, clowns or travelers seem to move in mysterious situations, almost metaphors of the human condition. There is no obvious drama here, but there is a subtle melancholy, as if every scene — is a fragment of a story that will never be fully told. In general, Sergei Roy's painting appears as a theater of imagination, where reality, dream and irony coexist in the same space. His images ask for no explanation: rather, they invite us to explore them like inner landscapes filled with symbols and narrative possibilities. The little boy stands unsteadily on his little feet in his crib, holding on to the railing for a moment, left without the care of his parents. When they returned to the room, full of feelings, they saw a wall that was close to the bed. This wall was painted by a child artist with children's pens (the choice of material for the author was limited by what was at hand). This was the first attempt at self-expression, and it was the beginning. This boy was me. My mother told me this story when I was a student at the Kharkiv Academy of Arts and Design. "Sergei Roy's works are important; they are full of themes and feelings. The premise of this diversity may be derived from the ascending motive of dialogue, although it is impossible to realize. The life of the soul ... Where is this place?" The place for the life of the soul is inside the soul ", - Serhiy Roy answers his creative work. This level of generalization dictates the degree of conditionality. The direction of the search forces the author to know his own" I ". Conversation with the world reaches productive tension and acquires the features of the subject ... The dunes of the deep sky lie on the canvas, creating it under the impression. But not only that, it is the texture of emotional experience as if it really lives separately, and the master paints the image of thirsty souls, thirsts for time and space. Sand and sky fill the bank for millennia. It seems that their liquid has long since turned to stone. What should an artist do? He remembers everything? But it has always been so. Our memory nourishes art and invests life in it. Serhiy Roy seems to have made this discovery a long time ago, and the next discovery of the spiritual thread (breath of time) has now been made. Urbanistic and theatrical motifs occupy a special place in the author’s practice, which is evident in his works "Urbo still life" and "Circus city". The everyday urban environment here is transformed, filled with the energy of mystery, where reality intertwines with fantasy and familiar objects become part of a vast mystical setting. The spiritual vertical of his work is embodied in paintings on biblical themes such as "Noah: Ancient Symbols and Eternity", where ancient symbols of eternity are connected with a modern pictorial approach. Every piece, from nostalgic still lifes to festive themes like "Christmas entertainment", is imbued with the author’s desire to convey the magic of the moment and the inner energy of life. International recognition of the artist is confirmed by a wide geographical range of exhibitions in Warsaw, Florence, Taipei and Jacksonville. His works are in the collections of the National Museum of Art in Khmelnytsky, the Poltava Museum of Art and in private collections in the USA, Germany, France and Poland. Serge Roy’s work today represents a unique blend of academic rigor and the flight of imagination, aimed at finding harmony between the human spirit and the infinite universe. His involvement in prestigious projects such as Florence Design Week and Art Revolution Taipei highlights the significance of his contributions to contemporary art and collectors' abiding interest in his deep philosophical work. https://www.instagram.com/serhiyroy_58/
