Description of the Artwork “The crystal simulacrum”

In this captivating surrealist composition, the viewer is invited into a dreamlike interior where blue horses with ethereal wings embody freedom and mystery. The seamless fusion of animal forms with fantastical elements challenges perceptions of reality, evoking a sense of wonder and introspection. The subtle interplay of light and shadow enhances the enigmatic atmosphere, while the cool blue palette evokes calmness amidst surreal chaos. About the artist

GIOVANNI PRIMO GRECO Sicilian by birth, he lives and works between Catania and Rome. After completing his artistic studies, he attended the Scuola Libera del Nudo at the BB.AA. Academy in Catania and in the early 90s he began his painting career; in those years he worked as a collaborator at galleries and cultural associations that allowed him to delve into the most stimulating environments to deepen his desire for further knowledge of the history of art, spurring him and enriching him with that culture that encouraged him to undertake his artistic career, thanks also to the partnership with the artists of his hometown. After a period of figurative painting, his research turned to abstract art, precisely informal, arriving there through an internal mental torment with a scientific-philosophical theory of painting according to which unconscious psychic processes exert determined influences on thought, behavior and therefore also on the way of painting, analyzing the nature of things under another aspect and arriving at the synthesis of a more immediate reality where the gesture and the encounter with the unexpected, for the opening of new worlds and new possibilities of vision, are the emotional contents that determine passions, tensions and discomforts the encounter with the unexpected, for the opening of new worlds and new possibilities of vision “...I am intent on developing a discourse around the structurality of the material, and particularly the technique, through form, line, color and intentionality. The works of Giuseppe De Gregorio and Manlio Bacosi have revolutionized my way of seeing what I say to myself and how I feel ....”in my works the path of corporeality is traveled which is the way to go beyond representation and grasp the essence of things trying to make a human vibration felt that enhances feelings through form, line, color and intentionality; the encounter with the unexpected, for the opening of new worlds and new possibilities of vision where the work itself is understood as the result of the encounter between man and nature in an alternation of empathy between pure form and its complexity. My research is an evolution of experimentation of both styles and techniques. Sometimes it is the chromatic emotional value that I would like to highlight, other times a gestural and material painting or even an experimentation of heterogeneous materials freely combined with the support (packaging cardboard, obs, mdf, wood panel, masonite)
