Education

I started on my artist’s path at the age of 7. These were 10 years of studies in Sergey Dyagilev’s Art School in Yekaterinburg city, Russia. It was a time of experiments, beauty of a variety of colors, materials and forms, where your artistic self was valued and not confined by customer’s demands. The main subject was Composition, mostly abstract, which largely determined your visual language, pervaded your creativity, changed the way of thinking, taught to feel harmony. At 17 I entered Architectural Art Academy. After 6 years of studying, I have received professional education in Industrial and Graphic Design. It was the time when you were trying to find a balance between artistic expression and ergonomics, function, consumers and social environment. The main subject was the “Project”, which taught me design, a conscious creation of an object to be used for making human’s life easier and more beautiful. At 25 I finished a one-year intensive course of Illustration at British Higher School of Art and Design. Time when you are freed from an overly serious attitude for a mission of designer or an artist, when you can be non-commercial, ridiculous, a time of depth and revolt. Illustration taught me to tell a story, to think serially. It was the first step to important liberation of the mind from any rules of visual arts. At 28 I moved to Bali. At this moment of my life I am very glad to return to myself, to abstract painting, to my inner 7 year old one, having passed through very important stages, gaining experience in different directions. All my works are about freedom, about the path that comes from the heart.
