In 'Violet Abstraction' by Mercedes Gordo, the viewer is taken on a captivating journey through an abstract landscape where violet light weaves a veil of mystery and enchantment. This oil on canvas stands out for its ability to capture the ephemeral play of light, shadows, and reflections, suggesting the ethereal presence of trees, clouds, and bodies of water without completely revealing them. Gordo's masterful technique allows the viewer's imagination to flow freely, creating personal and unexpected connections with the dreamscape presented.
Art has always been my calling. I believe there is something deeply transformative in creating, in shaping matter and turning it into a personal and magical space, channeling a unique sensitivity to observe and interpret the world. Painting is my language; a way to communicate and, at the same time, positively isolate myself from everyday reality. Through each brushstroke, I find a way to express emotions and feelings that I could hardly communicate otherwise. Painting allows me to reveal the most sensitive facet of my being and share my own vision of the world. Thus, my works seek to convey not only emotions, but also messages and reflections on our existence, social challenges and life itself. My artistic career began in realism, focused on landscapes and still lifes. Over time, I have explored more contemporary techniques and styles, creating a fusion between the classic and the modern. In each work, my goal is for the design, color and texture to awaken deep emotions in the viewer and open a space for reflection.
